Anne-Sophie Mutter, Münchner Philharmoniker & Shani

Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, one of the most prominent figures in the international classical scene since her debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker at thirteen, has maintained an uninterrupted career since 1976 and has been awarded four Grammy Awards, the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize, and the Polar Music Prize. This season she will perform with the Münchner Philharmoniker, an orchestra founded in 1893 with a history that includes premieres by figures such as Gustav Mahler. It will be under the direction of Lahav Shani, awarded in the 2013 Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition and current music director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, who will assume the position of chief conductor of the Münchner Philharmoniker in the 2026-2027 season. The programme combines two major pillars of the classical repertoire: Johannes Brahms' Violin Concerto, one of the most emblematic works for soloist and orchestra of the Romantic period, and Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 9 'The Great', the most ambitious and extensive of the composer.
