Collegium Vocale Gent & Herreweghe

Philippe Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent are inseparable names associated with the performance of Bach. As leading figures in this repertoire and long-time guests of the Palau de la Música Catalana, over the years they have brought to its stage the Passions and other major works by the composer. Now they return with the Christmas Oratorio, on dates especially propitious for listening to it and as a grand finale to this long-standing relationship with the Palau. Bach conceived the six cantatas we know today as the Christmas Oratorio for various celebrations of the Christmas period, from Christmas to Epiphany. Herreweghe has selected four, and to perform them, he has assembled a quartet of soloists specializing in this repertoire, with Dorothee Mields, Alex Potter, Guy Cutting and Johannes Kammler, together with the choir and orchestra of the Collegium Vocale Gent. A combination of voices and performers especially suited for reconnecting with the most Christmas-like Bach, on the eve of the festivities for which this music was born.
