The Chamber Choir Noctes, directed by Maria Mauri and formed by 16 young singers, offers a repertoire of high-quality chamber music. On this occasion, they present an English music programme that includes dances and madrigals inspired by nature and love, as well as hymns and religious motets of great depth and complexity. The rich English choral tradition is reflected in a journey that begins in the courts of Henry VIII and Mary Tudor, with pieces by Byrd and Tallis. It continues with the madrigals of Bennet and Farmer and advances to the beginning of the 20th century with works by Stanford, Imogen Holst, Gustav Holst and Finzi. The programme culminates with one of the most emblematic works by Britten, Hymn to St. Cecilia, a piece that turns this concert into a tribute to the patron saint of music.
