El trencanous

The magic of winter arrives at the Gran Teatre del Liceu with El trencanous, the immortal ballet by Piotr Ílitx Txaikovski that continues to captivate generations. When winter unfolds its magic and the cold transforms into mystery, few works evoke the spirit of fantasy with such intensity as El trencanous, by Piotr Ílitx Txaikovski. This year, the Gran Teatre del Liceu hosts the Badisches Staatsballett Karlsruhe, which presents a personal and refined reading of this universal classic. The show invites a journey through dreams, where music and dance become bridges to a world of illusion and timeless beauty. Premiered in Saint Petersburg in 1892 based on Hoffmann's tale adapted by Alexandre Dumas, El trencanous is a stage poem in which Christmas and fantasy intertwine. Tchaikovsky's score, rich in orchestral colors and unforgettable melodies, has turned the story of Clara and her soldier into a sonic universe that oscillates between the most intimate tenderness and jubilant outbursts, with moments as iconic as the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" or the "Flower Waltz".
