Els Pastorets de Banyoles (Quaderns de Banyoles 28)

CD: Music by Ultano Gómez and voices of the Theatre Choir directed by David Costa. Number 28 of the Banyoles Notebooks will be a very special volume of the collection because it includes for the first time a book and sound recording on a CD. The book contains a preliminary study on the genre, the text, and the vicissitudes of the performances in our city, followed by the edition of Els Pastorets de Banyoles, a work written in 1987 by Josep Santaeulàlia, Joan Solana and Xavier Xargay based on the Castilian text El Nacimiento del Salvador y la redención del esclavo by Antoni Molins, with music by Ignasi Rubio (1880). The compact disc includes all the music of the show, a work by the Banyoles composer Ultano Gómez, who has reharmonized Ignasi Rubio's songs and created five new pieces. The performances are carried out by the Theatre Choir, directed by David Costa, and the members of the quintet that can be heard live in all the performances.
