Exposició "Instrumental Baschet. La utopia resonant"

The Museu de la Música presents an exhibition dedicated to the creative universe of Bernard (1917–2015) and François Baschet (1920–2014), two artists and inventors who, from the 1950s of the 20th century, proposed a new way of understanding the musical instrument. Their contribution is concretized in a set of inventions they called sound sculptures built with industrial and everyday materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, cardboard, or inflatable cushions, and capable of generating complex and unusual sounds without resorting to electricity. The result of an approach that combines art and science, intuition and method, the Baschet universe develops a singular research on the relationships between form, matter and sound. Intuition, play, exploration and direct participation in sound production define an open and accessible conception of the instrument and of the musical experience. In this sense, the Baschet sound sculptures can be understood as open works, true resonant utopias that favor new forms of listening and participation.
