Exposició "Ocells-estels"

Coinciding with the start of the Aurèlia Muñoz Centenary, three reconstructions of sculptures from the series "Ocells-estels" (1982), one of the artist's most emblematic works, can be viewed in the atrium of the MACBA. Muñoz conceived these pieces to be installed at great heights and to interact with natural light, conditions that the current presentation faithfully reproduces. In 1982, the artist exhibited the series at the Palacio de Cristal in Madrid and the Drassanes Reials in Barcelona -two spaces with exceptional scale and lighting qualities- and, subsequently, the ensemble was selected for the 11th International Tapestry Biennial of Lausanne (1983). Muñoz's intention was for the works to fly over places and people, thereby facilitating an expansion of space both outdoors and inside large buildings. At the MACBA, these works will occupy the atrium of the Meier Building for most of the commemorative year, before migrating to different points across the Catalan territory.
