Within the framework of the museographic and content renewal carried out at the Museum of Art and History of Reus during the year 2025, the inclusion of the figure of Antoni Gaudí in the room dedicated to Reus artists is planned. Thanks to the exhibition of all the original pieces of the architect that are kept in the Museum, justice is done to one of the most universal creators of the city, while at the same time the artistic and heritage legacy of Reus is strengthened. Thus, the public will be able to enjoy some of the original drawings and documents of the Reus architect, incorporated into the Museum of Reus collection in 1933 through the initiative of the curator Pere Rius and the architect Domènec Sugranyes. Specifically, it is a set of five drawings, a photograph, a notebook of notes and the exhibitor's card of the Universal Exposition of Barcelona of 1888. Among the drawings, the sketch of the facade of the Sanctuary of Mercy stands out, with three sketches of the commission that the Reus citizen received in 1903, although it was finally not materialized. All of this becomes a unique testimony of Gaudí's creative process and the transfer of these materials to Reus allowed saving them from the fire that his workshop suffered in 1936. The permanent exhibition of all these works of great value will allow bringing the figure of Antoni Gaudí even closer to the citizens of Reus and the country. Likewise, a specific space will also be presented within the museum's website where access to the digitization of the set of works of the Reus citizen can be done interactively, favouring their consultation and conservation. With this action, the Museum of Reus takes a step forward in the claim of local heritage and in the international projection of the city through the figure of one of its most illustrious sons. This activity is framed within the commemoration of Gaudí Year.
