Exposició "Unfunny Paintings"

Unfunny Paintings / Pintures sense gràcia is the first individual exhibition in Barcelona by the German multidisciplinary artist Matti Schulz. The exhibition brings together a series of paintings and drawings, both large and small format, in which humor, popular culture, and social criticism coexist in a visual universe that is as absurd as it is recognizable. The exhibition's title itself, Unfunny Paintings / Pintures sense gràcia, functions as a paradox. Far from describing the works, it questions the expectation that humor must be immediate, obvious, or universal. The paintings can provoke an instant laugh, a late smile, or even no reaction. The artist frees the images from the obligation to be funny and claims a humor open to multiple interpretations.
