Le Chants des Muses, the second work by the Vicatana violinist Anna Urpina, is the culmination of extensive years of recovery and research of previously unpublished works by female baroque composers, both instrumental and vocal, found in manuscripts from the libraries of Paris and Venice. A result of 12 Italian, French, Spanish, and English composers, with 6 works of historical recovery (sonatas, suites, dances, correnti, airs) never performed. These previously unpublished works are presented in dialogue and connected with two premiere works by contemporary composers Helena Cánovas and Zulema de la Cruz. Anna Urpina (violin and baroque violin) Anna Urpina is a violinist specialized in historical performance and contemporary repertoire. She has developed her activity as a soloist and with various ensembles in European festivals and concert halls. She has collaborated with ensembles such as Age of Enlightenment, Les Musiciens du Prince, Ensemble Artaserse, or Freiburger Barockorchester. Trained in Madrid, the United States, and European centers such as the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels and the Hochschule für Musik of Leipzig, she has also worked in the field of early music with musicians such as Enrico Onofri and Fabio Biondi. She has been concertino and member of various young European orchestras, and has performed in venues such as the Musikverein of Vienna, the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, or the Royal Albert Hall of London. She has participated in international festivals such as Verbier, Utrecht Early Music Festival, or the Festival de Torroella de Montgrí. She is director and concertino of the ensemble Polifem Consort. She has received several awards in national and international competitions and has been a resident artist in different cycles and institutions. Her first disc, Baroque / Modern (IBS Classical), has been recognized with several international awards and distinctions from specialized critics. Nicola Brovelli (cello and baroque cello) Nicola Brovelli born in Busto Arsizio (VA) in 1986, began studying cello with Caterina dell'Agnello and continues musical studies under the direction of M° Silvio Righini at the Civic Music School of Milan, graduated at the "G. Verdi" in Milan in 2007. In 2004 he became part of the Interregional Youth Orchestra (IRO) of Ochsenhausen (D). From 2007 to 2009 he was a member of the Italian Youth Orchestra, through which he had the opportunity to collaborate with conductors such as Gabriele Ferro, Jeffrey Tate, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, and Gianandrea Noseda. He attended masterclasses by Karine Georgian, Giulio Franzetti, Alfons Kontarsky, Piernarciso Masi, Milos Mlejnik, Giovanni Gnocchi, and Enrico Bronzi. In 2007 he began studying baroque cello in the class of Gaetano Nasillo, graduating with honors in June 2011. In 2010 he was the first cello fellow of the baroque orchestra of the Civic Music School of Milan. Currently he is solo cello of the "Verdi Barocca" orchestra and the baroque orchestra "Arcantico".
