Exhibition « Picabia, Mediterranean. Picasso, Delaunay, Laurencin… » A central figure in international artistic circles, Picabia plays a key role in the history of art from the early 20th century. In 1916, he and many avant-garde artists joined Barcelona. Their exile in Catalonia, in the context of the First World War, gave rise to a genuine cultural effervescence, like the creation of the magazine 391. Conceived as an artistic laboratory, its title is a direct wink to 291, the magazine and New York gallery linked to photographer Alfred Stieglitz, whom Picabia had frequented in New York. The exhibition proposes discovering the richness of this moment through many works and several archive photographs.
