With humour, but also with pain and tenderness, we speak of one of the forgotten realities of migratory movements: what happens when old age or illness affect those whom life has brought to live far from loved ones? Now that we celebrate the tenth anniversary of Sala Beckett in Poblenou, we have wanted to count on some of the creators and creators linked to our trajectory to propose them a new specific project for this occasion. Mercè Sarrias Fornés, another of the authors trained in the Beckett workshops and laboratories, where she premiered many of her works, received one of the 2024 Benet i Jornet Grants from Sala Beckett in Barcelona for the writing of this text. In addition, on this occasion the writing is part of a project that brings together creators from Quebec and Catalonia, bridging distances with humour, like the protagonists of this story. The tandem Philippe Soldevila and Mercè Sarrias Fornés, continues the international creative adventure, initiated in 2009 stemming from an exchange of readings between the Centre des Auteurs Dramatiques du Québec (CEAD) and the International Dramaturgy Workshop of the Beckett, which led to the premiere of En Defensa dels Mosquits Albins in Quebec and Ottawa with the company Théâtre Sortie de Secours. The collaboration continued during the 2012/13 season at the Beckett in Gràcia with the show Quebec-Barcelona, which was also presented at the Temporada Alta Festival. The production already included the actor Victor Alvaro, who repeats on this occasion along with Roser Batalla for the Catalan part.
