Josep Maria Mestres brings to Teatre Lliure L'herència, the award-winning play by playwright Matthew López, premiered in 2018 and considered by critics as the most important North American work of the century. With an extensive male cast featuring great names such as Carlos Cuevas, Carles Martínez, Abel Folk, Dafnis Balduz or Albert Salazar. How is it to be a young gay man in New York a generation after the peak moment of the AIDS crisis? In how many ways can we express pain and love? Matthew López's play, loosely inspired by the magnificent novel Howards End by E. M. Forster, reflects on what we owe to those who lived and loved before us, and challenges us regarding our responsibility towards future generations. A play about transmissions and legacies, epic, funny, political, sensual and moving. "How much I love you boys... You have allowed me to see... what I was not able to live." "Tell your story with courage. It is a story that deserves to be told." "Take care of yourselves. Take care of each other." Josep Maria Mestres brings to the stage the award-winning play by playwright Matthew López L'herència. L'herència was originally a commission by Hartford Stage (artistic director Darko Tresnjak, production director Michael Stotts). The world premiere took place at the Young Vic in London in 2018 and in New York in 2019. Inspired by the novel Howards End (1910) by British writer Edward Morgan Forster, the play examines the relationships between three different generations of gay men in contemporary New York, three decades after the emergence of AIDS in the USA. L'herència focuses on the lives of a group of young homosexual men. The main setting is New York. The action takes place between the summer of 2015 and the spring of 2018, with the HIV pandemic as the backdrop. The protagonists are played by thirteen great actors, three veterans of the Catalan stage: Carles Martínez (Morgan, Walter Poole), Abel Folk (Henry Wilcox) and Teresa Lozano (Margaret), one of the great actresses of these last years of Catalan theatre, which is admirable that at eighty years old she can stand on stage and give us such a brilliant performance of her character, and a tenth of young actors, some of them with a great stage career: Dafnis Balduz, Ricard Boyle, Francesc Cuéllar, Carlos Cuevas, Eudald Font, Víctor G. Casademunt, Lluís Marqués, Albert Salazar, Marc Soler and Ferran Vilajosana. They repr
