Missa Solemnis

Jordi Savall, one of the Catalan figures with the greatest international projection, arrives at the Palau de la Música Catalana with one of Beethoven's most monumental works. Leading Le Concert des Nations and La Capella Reial de Catalunya, Savall presents a Missa solemnis that has toured Europe and has also been recorded with his ensembles. Recently awarded the Ernst von Siemens Prize, one of the great international recognitions in classical music, the maestro continues his approach to major works of the repertoire beyond early music. Beethoven considered the Missa solemnis one of his most important works. Written in the last years of his life, it is a monumental score for soloists, choir and orchestra in which the composer transcends liturgy to propose a profoundly human and spiritual reflection. Contemporary with the Ninth Symphony, it shows the mature Beethoven in all his creative ambition and pushes to the limit the expressive possibilities of the choir and orchestra. In the year of the bicentenary of Beethoven's death, this fundamental work occupies a central place in the itinerary that the Palau dedicates to the composer.
