No es pot saber is a musical theatre comedy that will show us Barcelona of the late 70s, early 80s, and, at the same time, the present. A portrait of a precarious Barcelona, of the marietes, of people who care and people who revolt, of bolleres, of cross-dressers, of the ladies of Gràcia and the divas of the Paral·lel, of bars where peculiar characters gather, and of that people you want by your side in the final moments. Two young radio reporters premiere a show and the job opportunity they have waited for so long. NO ES POT SABER, their historical dissemination podcast based on their family history, is a success. A success that, in a way, will also confront them. NO ES POT SABER will tell us the story of the Rodríguez and Savalls family and their three daughters. The Transition has ended and, with it, the revolutionary ideals. The arrival of AIDS wreaks havoc among the LGBT population and tensions within the Rodríguez and Savalls family increase. No es pot saber is much more than a creative musical; it is a musical that focuses on the city of Barcelona, and on the social struggles that took place at the end of the dictatorship. It does so through comedy and also through drama, winking at two generations that call out to each other inside and outside the stage. The fun and biting plot of Mario Rebugent, wrapped in the wonderful music and emotional songs of Núria Llausí, serve as a bridge between performers, the authentic driving forces of the project, and the artistic team, speaking of two eras that all know firsthand and serve to connect these two worlds. On this blank page that is post-dictatorship Barcelona, we draw the yearnings of the Barcelona counterculture of the 70s and contrast them with the desired and normative acceptance of a naive Democracy that was built on the foundations of Francoism. This musical is a tribute to a generation of gay and lesbian people who began to fight against discrimination and homophobia, when it was still persecuted by the grisos. A brave and silenced generation that suffered and fought firmly against the AIDS epidemic. Some think that the advances of the LGTBI+ collective within Catalan society have been more than relevant in the last 40 years. Where the focus should be now is on the 40 years to come. It is where definitive steps must be taken to eradicate LGTBI-phobia. Two young radio reporters premiere a show and the job opportunity they have waited for so long.
