The 13th edition of the SCAN Tarragona festival will take place from October 16 to November 29, 2026, with a proposal focused on metamorphosis and transformation processes affecting people, societies, and the contemporary environment through photography. Since its creation in 2008, the festival has consolidated as one of the key events dedicated to new talents in contemporary photography. The programme will again combine exhibitions, professional activities, and outreach initiatives. Among the highlighted proposals are the international exhibition Talent Latent, dedicated to emerging creators; the portfolio viewing programme Full Contact – Fundació Privada Mútua Catalana; SCAN Films screenings; the podcast Òcul; and the author publication Bloc. Projects such as Biblioscan, which brings photography to the city's libraries, and SCAN Actiu, aimed at fostering citizen participation and bringing photographic practice to neighbourhoods and more vulnerable communities, will also be maintained. The festival will also feature exhibitions in prominent spaces such as Refugi 1 del Port de Tarragona and Mèdol Centre d'Arts Contemporànies, reinforcing the connection between contemporary creation and different cultural facilities in the city. Organized by the Ajuntament de Tarragona, the SCAN festival counts on the collaboration of the Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya, the Diputació de Tarragona, the Port de Tarragona, the Museu d'Art Modern de Tarragona (MAMT), the Museu Nacional Arqueològic de Tarragona (MNAT), the Centre de la Imatge L'Arxiu, and the Mèdol Centre d'Arts Contemporànies, among other institutions and entities linked to the cultural sector.
