Second concert of the Trio Freixas at their artistic residency in the Enric Granados Auditorium. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Pau Casals in 2026, this proposal by the Trio Freixas pays tribute to their chamber music facet. The concert recreates works from historic recordings made a century ago with Alfred Cortot and Jacques Thibaud, highlighting both their artistic legacy and their ideals of commitment, humanism and peace. The trio formed by Cortot, Thibaud and Casals, created in 1906, achieved great international prestige thanks to the excellence of its members and exceptional musical synergy. During the twenty-five years of activity of the ensemble, the repertoire included about thirty works and became a reference in 20th-century chamber music. The Trio Freixas, formed by the performers Tatevik Khachatryan (violin), Laia Puig (cello) and Alba Ventura (piano), was born with the intention of delving into the chamber music repertoire and disseminating the works of female composers. The ensemble pays tribute to Narcisa Freixas (1859-1926), composer, pedagogue and social activist who promoted universal access to music education and popular music culture. Since its debut at the Barcelona Obertura festival in 2023, the trio has performed in prominent cultural venues in Catalonia and Aragon, consolidating an artistic trajectory marked by commitment to interpretative excellence and the dissemination of the musical heritage.
