Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia & Harding

Certain works have transcended the classical repertoire to become true icons. The Piano Concerto No. 1 by Tchaikovsky is one of them, with an unmistakable opening and a score that combines virtuosity, lyricism, and a powerful orchestral dimension. At the Palau, it will come to life under the direction of Kirill Gerstein, a pianist of Russian origin trained in Moscow, Madrid, and the United States, and an interpreter of extraordinary versatility, with a career fully consolidated at the highest level in Europe. A name that, without a doubt, will continue to occupy a prominent place on the international stage. The Symphony No. 4 by Brahms was the last one the composer wrote and represents one of the peaks of his symphonic thought. Deep and imposing, it dialogues with the past without renouncing a deeply personal voice and condenses, in four movements, the maturity of a creator who knew how to renew tradition from within. At the heart of this great symphonic display lies the complicity between Daniel Harding and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. One of the most outstanding baton-wielding conductors on the international stage and the Roman ensemble, of which he is the music director, return to the Palau 100 cycle with a program articulated around two essential works of the romantic repertoire. Tchaikovsky and Brahms, pianistic virtuosity and great symphonism, in an evening that brings together some of the most prominent figures of the European musical scene.
