Exposició "Maria Girona i el tapís"

Maria Girona's exhibition features her paintings and the only tapestry she made in Sant Cugat. It also specially recovers the tapestry "Oval rosat", a work measuring 105x145 cm. created by the artist in June 1967. This piece constitutes one of the most significant testimonies of her participation in the renewal of contemporary tapestry, a movement that counted on the collaboration of some of the most important artists in the country and that transformed the traditional language of tapestry into a discipline fully integrated into contemporary art. In this context, Maria Girona brought a personal, sensitive and innovative perspective. Maria Girona (1923-2015) developed an artistic trajectory marked by the elegance of forms, chromatic subtlety and deep poetic sensitivity.
