Repertoire John Adams: On the Transmigration of Souls Zosha Di Castri: Invisible House Sergei Prokofiev: Symphony No. 5, Op. 100 Artists New York Philharmonic Gustavo Dudamel, direction Orfeó Català Programme The season will open with an exceptional concert featuring Gustavo Dudamel, one of the most recognized and charismatic conductors of our time, who returns to Barcelona with the New York Philharmonic, one of the most emblematic and oldest orchestras in the United States, which debuted in the city ten years ago and is now returning for the first time since that historic concert. On this occasion, the North American ensemble will be accompanied by the Orfeó Català, one of the most prestigious choral institutions in the country, which, after the successful collaboration last February with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel himself, will return to share the stage. The programme combines works of great emotional force and contemporaneity: On the Transmigration of Souls, by John Adams, a piece composed as a tribute to the victims of September 11; also, a commissioned work by Canadian composer Zosha Di Castri will be premiered, and the evening will culminate with the imposing Symphony No. 5 by Sergei Prokofiev.
