LA VENGANZA DE DON MENDO. Direcció: Paco Mir

An updated, agile and funny version of the classic by Pedro Muñoz Seca. A verse satire of romantic tragedies, it is one of the great hits of Spanish theatre. Now, the master of humour Paco Mir takes the reins of direction to turn it into a play full of anachronisms, fast-paced rhythm and lots of stage play. Faithful to their parodic spirit, the actors embrace metatheatre to reflect, between laughs, on theatre and its role in society.
Show in Spanish.

DON MENDO is one of those works that please both theatre people and the general public alike. Those of the profession like it because it is built (very well built) with love, lots of ingenuity, an erudite knowledge of the classics and a creative freedom that, nowadays, we are starting to miss.
THE REVENGE OF DON MENDO is a farce that parodies medieval romantic drama: Don Mendo, a ruined nobleman, is betrayed by his beloved Magdalena, who abandons him to marry the King's Favorite, Don Pero de Toro. Don Mendo is imprisoned and sentenced to death after framing himself to protect Magdalena, but escapes with the help of his friend Moncada and returns to take revenge transformed into Renato, a troubadour whom everyone falls in love with (including Magdalena, who does not admit it), causing a chaotic and comic ending.
