This masterpiece of the comic opera genre by Gaetano Donizetti is one of the most esteemed pieces of Italian bel canto, a story of sincere and transparent love. The plot follows Nemorino, an innocent young man in love with Adina, a rich girl who seems out of his reach. In his attempt to win her, he buys a supposed love potion from the chatterbox Dulcamara, which leads to a series of comic situations and misunderstandings. The show includes such well-known melodies as the famous aria Una furtiva lagrima and features the production of the Fundació Òpera a Catalunya. As a complementary activity, before the performance, musicologist Ovidi Cobacho will offer an introductory talk about the work.
