Mal Pelo: WE. Nosaltres i els temps
Inspired by the ambivalence of the individual and the community, and based on John Berger's poem Separation, the company Mal Pelo returns to the journey, emigration, and the loss of place as a reference to focus on developing the basic principle of the movement: walking.
Inspired by the ambivalence of the individual and the community, and based on John Berger's poem Separation, the company Mal Pelo returns to the journey, emigration, and the loss of place as a reference to focus on developing the basic principle of the movement: walking. This new project is a transmission work that starts from the question: What do we leave in the palm of our hand to give to the new generations? Through time and generations, we continue to ask ourselves about our identity, our place, our future. Ours? The answers will be sought in the search for movement, dance, and texts generated from different bodies, different ages, and visions about life. Founded in 1989 by María Muñoz and Pep Ramis, Mal Pelo bases its work on a constant search for languages. During its early years, it made numerous tours (Europe, United States, Middle East, Canada, and South America). In 2001, Ramis and Muñoz launched L'animal a l'esquena, a multidisciplinary creation and exchange centre in a farmhouse located in Celrà (Girona). Mal Pelo has received, among others, the Premio Nacional de Dansa 2002 awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Premi Nacional de Dansa 2009 awarded by the Ministry of Culture. Throughout its long trajectory, it has developed its own artistic language through movement and the creation of dramaturgies that include text, original soundtracks, live music, the construction of scenic spaces, lighting and video among other stage tools, being a major reference company for international contemporary creation.
