The six suites for solo cello by Johann Sebastian Bach are considered one of the fundamental pillars of the repertoire for this instrument. On this occasion, cellist Amat Santacana, founder of the Qvixote Quartet, will perform suites number 1 and 6 from the proximity of the Auditori de la Plana de l'Om. One of the main attractions of the concert will be the use of a five-string cello for the sixth suite, an instrument practically disappeared today that allows recovering the original sound of the work. The programme also includes a ricercare by Domenico Gabrielli, recognized as one of the first pieces written specifically for solo cello in the history of music.
