Inside a fog storm, Poncia, Bernarda Alba's maid, prays for Adela's death. The house has sunk into a sea of silence. Poncia speaks alone and also with them, with Bernarda Alba and her daughters. NOTE ON THE TEXT This text is written based on the interventions of the character Poncia in the work by Federico García Lorca. In a deep analysis of the character, I have rescued Poncia's interventions and turned them into reflection, soliloquies, dialogues with ghosts and shadows. In this way, a new gaze is lit up inside the house. In the original work we witness a succession of events that unfold in chronological order. Here, in this Poncia, no. She speaks after the shock produced by Adela's suicide. Everything happens after her death. Poncia's tongue is unleashed in a place and time forbidden for words. Poncia settles accounts with the inhabitants who survive inside the house. We discover Poncia's sympathy for the youngest of the daughters, she claims her. "A brave female has died," she says, and blames herself for not doing more than she did. Poncia has always suggested me more than any other character inhabiting the house of Bernarda Alba. The characters of the maids enclose an interesting enigma: they are witnesses of the vicissitudes of their masters and owners, they know the truth inside the houses and possess the hidden philosophy of the popular classes.
