Comedy and drama meet in La truita, on a menu of a troubled family lunch. Couple relationships, generational conflicts, and the values that bind families are just some of the ingredients of this intimate, funny, and exciting show. Directed by Ferran Utzet. Vivid dialogues, a subtle irony, and a strong contemporary perspective are the most characteristic traits of La truita, a fantastic showcase of the most recent theatre written on the continent. The action is set during a family lunch organized by a mature couple (Emma Vilarasau and Jordi Boixaderas) on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the latter. The couple has three daughters, who arrive at the lunch with their respective partners and children. The celebration takes place at the country house where the couple has lived for a few months: when they were close to retiring, they decided to leave the city and open an ecological oven in a village in the interior, far from the city and the daughters and grandchildren. The storm breaks out when the middle daughter, who has become lacto-pesco-vegetarian, refuses to eat the fricandeau that the mother has prepared and asks her to cook her a river omelette that, on the way, she bought at a fish farm. The conflict is served. Ferran Utzet directs the text from the French Baptiste Amann with a great cast led by Emma Vilarasau and Jordi Boixaderas accompanied by Sara Espígul, Miranda Gas, Júlia Bonjoch, Arnau Puig, Marc Bosch and Tai Fati. A cast in which everyone is at the same scenic level; with equal protagonism and with an individual narrative moment for each one. To my taste, some monologues are a bit long, others very powerful regarding their message and some philosophical. The dialogue of Cristina (the mother) with her son-in-law Juli has been one of the most beautiful and visually and emotionally poetic scenes. Monologues that made me laugh, like the one by Samuel (Arnau Puig) and others that moved and excited me like the one by Daniel (Jordi Boixaderas) (the father). La truita is a tragicomedy with a dramatic structure
