LA TRUITA
At La truita, a couple approaching retirement age has just moved to a small town to open a small organic bakery. New house, new life, they say. On a Sunday, they gather their three daughters and their respective partners for the father's birthday. However, the middle daughter arrives with a fish: a trout. Lactopescovegetariana, she will not eat the beef her mother prepared with so much love. In fact, that is mainly what they will talk about. Why doesn't she act like everyone else? What does 'having convictions' mean? And exactly what convictions? Is it appropriate to defend our convictions when they hurt others? Meanwhile, the father has an important announcement to make. As explained by its author, La truita 'wanted to talk about those on whom we do not focus, in whom we never show interest, invisibilized not by political issues (which is what we do with the violent, the mad, or the poor), but simply by omission, by lack of interest. Those who, from generation to generation, think about the world, try to represent it or represent themselves in it, but who ultimately never do so'. La truita speaks of love, food, family, death, love, generations, universal values, and community.
